The split bearing design allows for larger sizes to be more easily mobilized and assembled in placed where there are no hoist or lifts to assist in the assembly. The split bearing can be changed without disturbing the shaft, so the design lends itself well to applications where disassembly of the line shaft is not practical or even possible.
